Dorothy Eastburn Dempsey died on Friday, June 22, 2007, at Millcroft in Newark.
Dempsey was born March 10, 1916, to Ferris and Clara Eastburn at a location in Pike Creek Valley, referred to as Eastburn quarry, on a farm. She graduated from Kennett Square (Pa.) High School and attended Goldey Beacom College.
Dempsey's husband of 67 years, Norman, with whom she had just celebrated a wedding anniversary, died on June 26, 2007. She is survived by her two sons, Tom and his wife, June, and Rodney; two grandchildren, Crystal and Chris; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 26, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark. Interment was in the church cemetery.
